FAQ

The Kingdom of Justonia: Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is it? What do you mean by “Kingdom?”

A. The Kingdom is a self-governing multi-locational cooperative and social support network, or community, comprised of individuals with similar goals and beliefs. Structured as a constitutional monarchy, there is a king whose powers are limited and defined within the Kingdom’s Royal Constitution.

Q. Why not an elected president?

A. The King has a vision of creating a living environment that helps people thrive instead of just survive; a place where people live instead of just exist, and invites others who share the same vision of a sustainable future to participate. We’ve all spent too much time arguing and debating with those who have no interest in listening and time is of the essence. To create this vision the Constitution limits hierarchies while maintaining strong, focused leadership among voluntary citizens.

Q. What’s the point?

A.  The United States of today is an oligarchical, fascist police state where the vast majority of the population is financially insecure. As a nation, the US is overworked, underpaid, suffering the consequences of both prolonged stress and poverty while the crisis only worsens all at the dawn of the Sixth Mass Extinction. Regardless of who wins what elections We all require more direct and immediate action to improve the quality of Our lives and Our prospects for a future; to make the world a better place and be a force of good upon it.

Q. What do you do?

A. We work toward long and short term goals intended to increase the self-sufficiency and financial security of the Kingdom and its individual citizens. An ongoing project, for example, is the Royal Multi-Location Urban Farming Cooperative, colloquially called the Royal Gardens. Utilizing scrap wood and sharing the cost burden for other materials We constructed numerous raised beds at multiple locations and continue converting more land into productive, and aesthetically pleasing, growing areas with each passing season while refining the process to be more self-sustaining by incorporating compost bins built from discarded wood pallets allowing the creation of new soil on site which of course reduces future costs. We hold semi-regular meetings to discuss our plans and progress and hold,  perhaps most importantly, community events like cookouts and bonfires.

Q. What do you hope to achieve in the long run?

A. Some of the long terms goals of the Kingdom are the acquisition of land upon which to create a self-sufficient, sustainable community and to become a force of influence in politics with coordinated efforts in support of progressive and environmental causes.

Q. How do you plan to fund all this?

A. The Kingdom’s revenue comes from a variety of sources. The primary source of funding for the Royal Treasury presently come from individual contributions of citizens, but also various business ventures created by, or partnered with, the Justonian Crown. Future plans for generating revenue include forms of investing and the creation of passive income streams.

Q. How will this not merely be an extension of the oligarchy and patriarchy?

A. The Constitution for the Kingdom of Justonia begins with a Declaration of Rights for all human beings regardless of nationality and the Kingdom itself exists solely to secure those rights. Individual citizens have the right to petition the King on any issue and, as growth necessitates, vote for representatives to petition the King on their behalves. The Kingdom will have no police force as they commonly exist today; instead opting for community based policing methods based on mediation and restorative justice.
